At Stoves we’ve got some experience when it comes to excellent kitchen appliances. How much experience, you ask? Well, let’s take a closer look at the history of the company.
Stoves started trading 90 years ago, in 1920, under the name Stoves & Co Ltd. This was the result of a merger between Warrington’s Sheet Metal Stoves Co. and Callender & Oakley, who were based in Chester. Stoves & Co acquired British Oil Stoves Co. Ltd in 1923, and were in turn acquired in 1934 by Falk Stadelmann.
Jump to 1964, when Falk Stadelmann becomes Falk Ltd. Then, a decade later, Falk Ltd becomes Falk Industries Ltd. Four years later, in 1976, Falk Industries Ltd, and the Stoves brand with it, is acquired by Valor Newhome Ltd. In 1989 things got really interesting; a management buyout led to the launch of Stoves Ltd. In 1997 Stoves, by then a PLC, made a major acquirement, bringing New World appliances on board.
At the turn of the new millennium, Stoves and New World joined the Glen Dimplex group. As part of the Glen Dimplex Home Appliances family, Stoves have entered a very exciting period in what is an undeniably impressive lifetime of trading.
So. A lot of change, and a lot of growth over the years, wouldn’t you say? But there’s one thing that’s been a constant since the 1920s: our dedication to our customers. Our online outlet and spares stores are an example of our dedication to moving forward and finding new ways of supplying excellent appliances, and excellent customer support, to the people who keep us in business.
